I had the opportunity to meet Isaac Margulies Z'L during my early teens. His formal, respectful manner of speaking, his profound knowledge of Judaism, and his extraordinary abilities were qualities that set him apart as a man from another era in our time.
In 2017, Tamar Rausky and I visited the Vaad Hair Synagogue, a visit made all the more special because we were accompanied by Isaac. It proved to be an enriching and deeply moving experience.
The chill inside the temple, combined with the humidity in the air, the echoes of our footsteps in the emptiness, and the poignant solitude of the synagogue, all evoked an inevitable sense of sadness within me."
The stories and memories of the origins of the Vaad Hair, as shared by Isaac himself in that very place, added a unique depth and significance to our tour. Without his presence, the visit wouldn't have held the same meaning. Looking back from afar, I express my gratitude for the moments we were fortunate to share in his company.
For Isaac, that space held a sacred aura, steeped in family history and the vibrancy of our community life. He was determined to prevent its decline and sought ways to preserve the splendor that the Vaad Ha'ir had held at the heart of Jewish life in our community for decades.
May God grant us the opportunity to witness its restoration in his memory and continued legacy. May his soul ascend, journey towards the Light, and find eternal Peace.
Hasta siempre Isaac !!!
